At the bottom of this page, teachers can find rubrics for measuring student achievement throughout this project. These rubrics are also posted on the student evaluation page and outline what is expected of students and what the final outcome of the paper and invitation should be. The rubrics are created as a means of assessing whether or not students met the standards provided in the standards page under the teacher tab.
Teachers should take special note of the way in which students used and interpreted the primary source documents provided. The project is designed so that students research a topic, interpret the information, and then utilize the knowledge in a way that aids them in creating a product. In the case of this project, the product is the Gatsby party invitation.
Teachers should take note of student creativity when designing the invitation while keeping in mind that not every student possesses the same level of artistic ability. Teachers should consider student strengths and attempt to find those strengths in the research or creative portion of the project. The attached rubrics will act as a tool for grading the projects fairly and consistently.
Below is the rubric that will be used to grade the paper portion of the project.
